<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Calibri;">Inspired by a trip to the Henry Moore Foundation, each child in Mrs Botterman’s class is making wax figures to be cast into bronze by Morris Singer Art Founders, who are part sponsoring the project. The public artworks will be sited at heritage sites, by rivers and in trees in Great Amwell, Ware, Hertford and along the Thames Water New River.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Calibri;">Alex H, Alex K, Ellen, Grace and Jessica, aged 7 to 8, are the first group to produce sculptures in wax: </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Calibri;">Alex H: “We went to the Henry Moore Foundation and went to look at his sculptures.”</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Calibri;">Alex K: “We were shown photos of where our sculptures were going to be. We had to use our imagination.”</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Calibri;">Ellen: “When our group started we had to draw a picture of what we were doing.”</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Calibri;">Grace: “Our Class 3 project is about making sculpture. We have been using wax and clay.”</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Calibri;">Jessica: “It is fun making sculptures. Ellen is making a duck head with a human body, Alex K is making a giraffe with a head like Mario, Alex H is making a walking house and Grace and me are making mermaids.”</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Calibri;">The project has been funded by The Nigel Copping Fund and Cllr Rosemary Cheswright through the Herts County Council Locality Budget Scheme. The concept, management and workshops for the project have been arranged by artist Maxine King in consultation with Thames Water, Great Amwell Parish Council, Ware Town Council and East Herts District Council who, as partners in the project, are providing a number of locations for the trail.<img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-390" src="http://blog.hertfordmuseum.org.769soon2b.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/february-2010-066.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="450" /></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Calibri;">More on our project soon, to include our next special guest coming to St John the Baptist.</span></p>
